Katie Post

Executive Director

Katie began her teaching career as a 7th grade life science teacher in Harford County, MD.  During that time, she served as Department Chair, Team Leader, Green School Coordinator, and received the Service Learning Star.  After 6 years and applying valuable goal-setting and student-centered best practices in her classroom, she was chosen to serve as the Classroom Learning System Coordinator.  Working with pre-K thru grade 12 educators, she helped others to use the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence in Education to change the learning cultures of their classrooms.  Through a Maryland State Department of Education-approved course, written by Katie and her amazing colleagues, over 400 educators were given the opportunity to change the face of their classrooms, giving students a voice and choice in their learning, building proactive relationships with stakeholders, and using data to drive instructional decision making.  In addition, she served as a National Baldrige Examiner and Maryland Performance Excellence Awards Examiner.

Katie’s vision for Partners in Education, Inc. came about through her interactions with educators in the classroom setting and through conversations with parents at interactive learning academies.  She believes that everyone deserves the chance to succeed in learning and have the opportunity to help others do so as well.  She no longer wants educators, families, or students to be limited by funding, materials, or lack of opportunity.

Katie received her B.S. from Moorhead State University in Secondary Life Science Education in 1999, her Master of Arts in Leadership in Teaching from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 2006 and is currently in pursuit of her PhD.

April Kenney

Director of Learning Development

April Kenney has taught for the Harford County Public School system for seven years.  She taught second grade at Havre de Grace Elementary for three years, fourth grade at Havre de Grace Elementary for two years, and fifth grade at Havre de Grace Elementary for two years.  Additionally, April served as the grade level chair while she taught fourth grade.  Also, April attended training to become a Maryland State Baldrige Examiner.

During this time, she attended training which showed her how to implement Malcolm Baldrige’s continuous improvement model with her students.  She incorporated data collection, goal setting, class meetings, and student ownership which increased student achievement in her classroom, with both primary and intermediate students.  Because of the power of increased student motivation, understanding, attendance, and achievement April witnessed with her students, she is an advocate for Classroom Learning Systems and the incorporation of Malcolm Baldrige’s model for Continuous Improvement.

April Kenney attended the Malcolm Baldrige (Classroom Learning System) basic training, was selected to attend the Trainer of Trainer training.  She worked collaboratively with a team to write and revise the 3 credit, Maryland State Department of Education Harford County Classroom Learning System Course, and taught this course three times.  Additionally, Mrs. Kenney served as a model classroom learning system teacher for administrators, other educators, and for pre-service teachers.

She was also the Teacher In-Charge for two years, where she acted as the Assistant Principal for one month, filled in for the Assistant Principal and Principal when they were out of the building, and coordinated all substitute coverage for the building.  Additionally, she was the School Improvement Team Facilitator, acting as a liaison between the school’s Instructional Leadership Team and the school’s School Improvement Team.

April’s vision for Partners in Education Inc. came about through discussions of future ambition/dreams with Katie Post, work with students, families, and educators.  Through Partners in Education, April hopes to bridge academic gaps, increase student motivation and achievement, and to help make the educational experience successful and enjoyable for students, educators, and families.

April received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Villa Julie College in Liberal Arts and Technology with Elementary Education Certification and focus in Social Sciences in 2001, and her Master of Arts in Leadership in Teaching with Administrator 1 Certification from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 2007.
